About MiPRO

MiPRO is a highly experienced paranormal research group
with focus on discrete and professional investigations

Who Are We?

Michigan Paranormal Research Organization (MiPRO)is a group of like-minded individuals who seek to find explanations to unknown or unusual events that occur throughout the southwestern corner of Michigan.  Formed in 2010 we have exhaustively conducted several investigations on local homes, businesses, and cemeteries looking for explanations to activity reported by others who enlist our services.

We are a not-for-profit organization that strives to provide you the most detailed and thorough answers to your most burning questions.  Generally we attempt to disprove any event through scientific means before we label it as “paranormal”.  We go into each investigation with this effort in mind and try our hardest to provide you the best possible service available.

Our members have many years of experience in paranormal activity.  Some of us herald from family homes that had unexplained events, or have conducted investigations is some highly dramatic situations.  For more information on our past experiences, check out our “Investigations” page.

It is our goal to perform in the most professional manner possible with your safety and security at the top of our priorities.  If discretion is a concern, we have regularly performed investigations “under the radar” and have extensive experience with maintaining secrecy if required.

Our group consists of long-time business owners, executives, retired military, teachers, and other professionals.  Professionalism, along with your security and safety is among the top concerns during our investigations.  We hold our members to the highest level of personal reliability and offer our clients the best possible experience with the most in-depth investigative skills available.

Scientific Methodology

We pride ourselves in the most discrete and thorough investigative methodologies available.  If you’re like us and enjoy the ghost hunting groups we all watch on TV, then you’re probably familiar with what we mean by using “Scientific Methods” in our investigative processes, right?  Wrong!  It’s all too common for other paranormal investigators to claim they regularly use “Scientific Methods” in their “ghost hunts” but they really don’t use them at all.  MiPRO, however takes that extra step to bring skepticism and TRUE Scientific Methodology to our investigations.

How is MiPRO Different?

Scientific methodology is actually fairly difficult to maintain.  For starters, when you hear a “ghost hunter” claim that a particular piece of equipment they are using “tracks and finds ghosts”, they are completely wrong!  The truth of the matter is, there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that ghosts even exist.  So how can they “track or find ghosts” when there’s no proof they even exist?  You can’t!

MiPRO try to bring you the most factual evidence we can produce.  We don’t claim to say that your establishment is “haunted”.  We simply provide you the evidence of unusual and unexplained events we encountered and let you make up your own mind.  We also try to avoid most corner-backing terms like “ghosts” or proclaim an event is actually something we’re unable to prove to you.

We do regularly utilize a lot of the same technology as the hit TV shows you enjoy on your Sunday afternoon.  The difference is, however, that we don’t claim to have proof of “ghosts” or other paranormal activity.  For example, we use a piece of equipment referred to as a “KII Meter”.  This is a common piece of equipment among paranormal investigators.  What does it do?  It detects Electro-Magnetic Field variations.  There are a number of “man-made” situations where the KII Meter can show a result.  Electricity, for one can create a reading on a KII Meter.  On those hit TV shows, how often do you see their KII Meter go bonkers?  Quite a bit.  Does that prove anything?  Possibly, it could mean some paranormal event occurred, but it’s also important to remove all other potential outcomes before crying out to the world, “WE HAVE A GHOST HERE!

The investigators at MiPRO differ in that we take every opportunity to DISPROVE any paranormal activity exists.  Not because we are inherently skeptic or negative to the possibility of paranormal activity, but because we want to ensure the results and evidence we provide offers YOU the best possible insight into what you have experienced.  If we can disprove just one “ghost sighting” with science and unbiased scientific methodology those we can’t are even more fascinating to us as investigators.

There’s a really fascinating article written by Benjamin Radford (2010) titled “Ghost-Hunting Mistakes: Science and Pseudoscience in Ghost Investigations”.  For those interested in more information on utilizing scientific methodology in investigations, Mr. Radford (2010) offers quite a well-put-together piece that demonstrates the ideology we follow.

MiPRO does, however stray from Mr. Radford’s (2010) recommendations that paranormal investigations are conducted in light.  Frankly, most of us have other jobs!  We conduct investigations FREE OF CHARGE, so we have to make a living somehow!  To compensate for this measure, we employ the use of laser grids in order to better identify (on camera) any possible movement we may encounter.  We also utilize the most current technology for night vision in our cameras and other observable devices.
